Independence Day 2008

This year, we had a BUSY but FUN 4th of July!
My festive 4th of July cake!

1st stop - Laurel Park for our Ward's celebration.

The church organized a softball game and Adam played. The girls and I watched for a little bit, but we were in the sprinkle park the majority of the time. We did not get to stay for the picnic b/c we had to get to our next event!

Here is proof of Adam playing softball...see, he is not ALWAYS in a dress shirt and tie!

Emma going through the fountains and being splashed in the face! As you can see, Elizabeth kept her distance.

Here's Ellie running from the water and me yelling "WALK!"

Emma's "CHEESE" smile

After the game, Adam cooled off with the girls.

2nd stop - Adam's Mom's party by the lake.

Emma flying her kite. This is before it got stuck in a tree! Adam actually climbed the tree to try to get it out. He was unsuccessful at reaching it, but it finally came out...although it no longer has a tail. Too bad I was unable to take pics of Adam up in the tree. I was too busy holding the string of the kite, trying to get it out before my husband killed himself by falling out of a pine tree!

Lance walking with the girls on the beach.

These are the only 2 pics I took at Adam's Mom's get together, I guess I was taking a break from taking pictures!

3rd stop - My family's get-together at the MacPherson's pool.

Let me explain the next few pictures...at the MacPherson's pool on the 4th of July, it's all about a little family competition. Each family chooses 1 person to represent in each event. For example, one event is called the "copy cat" where the 1st person in line does some kind of dive, jump, etc. into the pool. And everyone behind that person has to do what they did.

Adam in the copy-cat contest..it was a toe touch dive off the wood...he almost did it! I'm just glad he didn't break his neck.

Here is Mikel in the copy-cat contest

The next couple of pictures are of one event I participated in, which was the "Frozen T-Shirt contest" and this was harder than you would think. Several folded up, frozen-solid T-shirts were taken directly out of the freezer and brought to each contestant. You had to take the T-shirt into the pool and try to get it unfrozen and pulled apart and the first person to get it completely unfrozen and put it on wins. I got 4th place.

Look at our faces....Arrrr...

4th and FINAL stop - Adam's Dad's house in Cornelia for a fireworks show.

Watching fireworks...Adam's dad and brother drove to SC to get them.

They are looking at a bug

Adam let Emma hold a Roman Candle...I was scared, but she did fine.

If Emma got to do it, Ellie wanted to do it, but I am surprised she held it so long.

But not too long.

Emma was very careful with her sparkler! She was afraid to hold one last year...but she is a brave girl now!

Well that was our 4th of July! We were all exhausted at the end of the day!
