I went to the Gainesville Perinatal Center yesterday, to speak with the Dr. about my platelets. I have gestational thrombocytopenia...which means my platelet count drops when I am pregnant. They don't really worry too much about it, since severe bleeding doesn't occur until it drops below 20,000, which can be life-threatening. Mine are at 98,000 now and most people's are 150,000 -450,000 per microliter of blood. During pregnancy, platelets normally drop, but most pregnant women's stay above 100,000. There is no treatment for this condition, since it is considered mild, in my case. When I was in labor with Elizabeth they were around 75,000. After delivery they gradually increase. So the cure for this is having the baby, I guess. He said everything was fine but if they get below 70, they can give me steroids at 36 weeks to up my count, but hope I don't have to b/c steroids have bad side effects (weight gain, increase B/P).
Anyway, when I was at the Dr., they did an ultrasound, just to check baby (which I didn't know they were going to do, but was glad) and they did a 3-D ultrasound. It was so cool! Here's a picture!
You can see the profile of his face...so cute! But she couldn't get a better shot b/c he wouldn't cooperate and get in a good position.(Adam wasn't home, so Emma took the picture below and to make sure I smiled, she told me to say, "Shake Your Booty!")
Me at 27 weeks
From the u/s the baby is measuring at 30 weeks! My due date (by dates) is April 15th. My 20 week u/s showed the due date as April 2nd. The one they did yesterday showed the due date as March 27th. They are not changing the original due date, but hopefully he will come early (I am saying the due date is April 2nd anyway)!! This is going to be one big boy! I guess the women in my family just have big babies! Emma was 8 lbs. 1 oz., Ellie was 9 lbs. 6 oz, & my niece Chess was 10 lbs. 8 oz.! But we have been blessed that they are all healthy and for that I am very grateful (even if we do pop out newborn babes that look like 3 month olds)!

He is going to be a cutie, just like the other 2 were!! It's exciting! Glad you went to the specialist....Knowledge is power.
That Emma has such a good sense of humor(shake your booty)!! You look beautiful and she takes good pictures!
Love you all! Mom
Dr. Lynch sent me to Dr. Allaire, too (with high BP) and that's how I got my 3D ultrasound as well! It was a pleasant surprise, huh? They are very nice there. I'm glad everything looks good for now. Just pick a name, and we'll all be happy!
Do you have a name for him? Joy is having a girl! 4 girls!!!
