Ellie's hand

Ellie hurt her hand a couple weeks ago. She got out of the shower and had her towel around her running in the living room, she tripped over her towel and fell on her hand. When she fell, she cried really hard and for a long time and when I first helped her up she said, "IT'S BROKEN, IT'S BROKEN!". I tried to see if she could bend it, but she didn't want to move it. Adam wasn't home and I did not want to go sit in the ER with 3 little ones by myself on a Friday night, and I thought it would be crowded with people thinking they have swine flu! SO, luckily we live across the street from our pediatrician. I got her dressed and we all went and knocked on Dr. Gilbert's door. He looked at it and said wait until morning to see if she says it still hurts or not. I took her to Guilford Clinic Sat. b/c she was guarding it and wouldn't use it to eat or anything (it was her right hand and she is right-handed). They did an X-ray and said the bone in her hand above her pinky was barely fractured...smaller than a hairline. They put it in a splint and wrapped it up and put it in a sling. We kept it on for about a week and it is better now. That splint and sling did not slow her down AT ALL! She got frustrated doing things with her left hand only, but she was a trooper!
