The Birth Story, if you're interested:
My water broke at 2:26am Monday morning. We called my mom and she came right over to stay with Emma, Ellie, and Will. We got to the hospital a little after 3am. They checked me and I was only 3cm dilated. I wasn't in any pain at this point and wasn't having any contractions. They did all my paperwork and I signed all the documents. Then they did my blood work and I was in suspense while waiting for it to come back. I was on prednisone the last couple weeks of my pregnancy to help my platelet count rise. I have gestational thrombocytopenia which means my platelet count drops when I'm pregnant. If your platelet count is under 100k the anesthesiologist won't administer an epidural because of the risk of bleeding in the epidural space. Anyway, we got the results back around 4am and my count was 110k. I was very thankful! They came in and gave me my epidural right away. I didn't like that my legs and feet went completely numb, but it was so much better than feeling all the contractions. The contractions were very inconsistent so they gave me pitocin to get things more regular. I was at a 5 around 5:30 and got to a 10 a little after 9am. Adam texted for my mom, Andrea, Ali, and Stacy to come in (they were in the waiting room). The nurse did 3 pushes with me before calling the doctor in. The head was already coming, so she called Dr. Ward in. He waited for a contraction and I pushed and Sam was there. I was so exhausted and so happy! All the discomforts of pregnancy were over and our sweet boy was finally here! It was all worth it.
He is such a sweet baby and we love him so much!
Emma is such a good big sister. She wants to hold him all the time!
Will was not so sure about this new little guy at first. He is sweet to Sam, though, and wants to hold him and will kiss his cheek. He calls him "the baby Sam". I know Will is going to be a great big brother!
Family of Six! :)
