If you're interested in the birth story...I woke up around 3:30 am really hungry so I got a bowl of cereal. I went to the restroom and realized there was a trickling down my leg that didn't stop after I was done going to the bathroom. So I woke Adam up and told him my water broke. He said, "ok, well I'm going to take a shower."

He didn't rush or anything. Which is strange bc with all the others, he got out the door really quickly. It was getting close to 6:00 and I said, "Adam, are you going to help me load the van?" My contractions started at 6am and were 4-5 mins apart. We dropped the kids off at my mom's at 6:20 and got to the hospital at 6:45am. I was able to breathe through the contractions and they weren't very painful yet.

When they first checked me, I was 3 cm. They took my blood and it seemed like it took forever to get the results back to see if my platelet count was high enough for me to get an epidural. They came back at 8:30 and my platelet count was good so I could get an epidural! Yay!!!! I was so afraid I would have to do it without. The dr. said after I got my epidural and was comfortable he would check me again to see my progress.

I love my sweet girls!!!

While waiting for my epidural, I was having some REALLY hard contractions. They were very painful. Finally, the anesthesiologist came in around 9 or so and gave me the epidural. It was much better than last time. It stopped the pain but I could still move my feet and legs and I could feel pressure.

The dr. checked me at 9:30 and I was at a 9.5!!!! We called Ali to see if she was coming and she sped to the hospital to try to make it in time. She got there a minute after Rachel was born and was super sad. I felt so bad she missed it. But I had no way of knowing how far along I was bc the dr. didn't want to check me again until after my epidural was in. I was thankful my mom was there. And thankful Andrea was helping watch my kids, but I wish they could've been there!

Since the babies were born before 38 weeks, they were considered premature and the hospital has certain "rules" they have to abide by. The babies had to go the nursery to be monitored.

While they were there, Naomi's oxygen levels weren't where they wanted them to be. So they took her to the Intermediate Care Nursery for monitoring. They sent me to my room and Rachel got to come to the room.  But then the nurse noticed her breathing funny and they decided to monitor Rachel also. So she had to stay in the ICN as well.

Precious Naomi

Sweet Rachel

They hooked my babies up to all kinds of monitors and wires. I was so sad that I couldn't hold them and that they couldn't be with me in the room. :(

They put breathing tubes in their nose and a tube down their throat also. They had little baby IVs. I wasn't able to nurse them the first day. During the night Rachel grabbed her nose cord and pulled out her breathing tube! She was a fighter from day 1! The nurse then decided she didn't need it and left it out. Yay! Go, Rachel! :)

This was the first time I got to hold the girls after they had been hooked up. It was really emotional for me. I didn't know that I could hold them. I was so happy! I was also able to start nursing them since their tubes were taken out.

We had a lot of wonderful visitors!

The girls had to stay in the Intermediate Nursery for 5 days. They got to go home on Saturday. I was coming up about every 6 hours to feed them. It was so hard to leave them when I got discharged on Wednesday. It felt like I was leaving a part of my heart. I did get to spend the night there the last night on Friday. They have a nice room, kind of like a hotel room. The babies got to come off their monitors and slept in bassinets in the room. Adam stayed home with the other kids. I was so thankful to be there with my babies. They passed all of their tests and the car seat test. I was so excited when we were able to bring them home!!! My heart and home is full and happy!!!
